Cancer therapies either prevent tumor cells growing or directly killing them.

The cell “decision” to stop growing or die can be controlled by the protein p53. My research focuses on how subtle yet critical alterations (post-translational modifications) on p53 leads to enhanced killing of cancer cells and thus more efficacious therapies.

In my spare time, I mentor students, promote cultural exchange, play soccer, and create music and art.

I speak 4 languages (English, 中文, Deutsch, Nederlands) and thus far moved homes 20 times spanning 4 countries (China, Germany, UK, USA).
